French Conversation

The guillotine was invented during the French Revolution.
At the start of the term our team, Team 5, classes had a assembly based on the rugby world cup. We were going to find out what countries our class would be researching for the rest of the term. One of the countries our class had drawn out of the basket was France. We had groups in our class, our group was assigned to study this country.

“Kiaora, sorry, I mean ‘bonjour’. My name is Jonty and I'm from New Zealand Do you know what the capital of this country is?”

“Bonjour, my name is Pierre and you are actually in the capital, Paris! Anyway why are you in France?” kindly asked Pierre.

“I’m a tourist and I am researching this splendid country and I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions.”

“Okay sure, what would you like to ask me?” questioned Pierre

“Thank you, Pierre. What is a popular dish in France and what is it made out of?”

“One of our popular dishes is ‘Escargot’, many french people eat it at restaurants. It is made of cooked land snails. Sounds disgusting but it tastes wonderful!”

“Can you name one of the key players for the French team in the Rugby World Cup?”

“I favour Demetri Yachvili, he is good with the ball and has good sportsmanship.”

“Do you know a major celebration in France and is also annual?”i asked

“Bastille Day, it is to commemorate our French Revolution.”

“I didn't even know their was a French Revolution, when did it happen?”

“The French Revolution was in 1789.”

“Thank you for your helpful information Pierre, hopefully I will see you later on my tour.”

Silly Sports Day

"Line Up room 19!" yelled Mr Harris On Tuesday our class was attending to a Silly Sports day with the other Intermediate classes on the bottom field. There Were going to be games and also wet activities there . "I hope there are going to be some fun Activities i thought to my self.

As we arrived down the bottom field the four of our intermediate teachers set up four well organised games for us to play. The teachers that set it up for us were Mr Harris,Mrs Nua,Mrs Langitupu and Ms Tito first we played a game with Mr Harris. It was about using Team work and communication, the main objective was to balance a tennis ball on a spoon (well holding it) and with your leg tied to your partners leg with a string. you also had to get to the other side and back with out dropping the tennis ball it was probably 50 metres away.My partner was David we kept dropping the ball and going back to the start.
it was very funny.

Mrs Nua ran a Team work and communication game we had to split up into four teams.Too accomplish this game you had too dunk a sponge into a bucket of water then line up your team then pass the sponge under your legs to the next person then pass to the right to the next so it goes under right, under right, under right till you get to the last person he or she has to squeeze that sponge into a bucket at the end what ever team won was with the most water in the bucket at the end.Ms Tito took a game using accuracy and strategy's it was where you had to slingshot different types of balls in a hoola hoop lying on the ground, i had no chance in that game.

My favourtie game of the day was Mrs Langitupu's this was a fun team game you had to get in four even teams i was in the blue team with my mates Tamati,Feki,Tyler,Milleny and cruz it was a funny game you had to tag the other team by passing a ball around and trying to tag the other players well they were running around our team were the champs.

It was a funny and exciting day on tuesday i hope we can do it again.

Cross Country

Have you ever ran or jogged a 3.5 km running track?,I did it was the longest period of time I have ever ran. The year 7s and 8s had cross country a very tiring one, It was very exciting at first then when I got into it I felt exhausted.

Just to start it off Mr Burt lost his wooden clapper, It claps as loud as 60 people clapping at one time. So he actually used his hands just before the clap I had butterflies because my goal was to come in the top 3 I knew this would be a very hard goal. CLAP! off we went you would’t know what I was feeling I can’t explain it, It was like it was the end of the world.

Just turning the first cone I was sprinting already Feki was in front and me and Cruz were far behind him. KEEP GOING!! yelled Mrs George just heading to the footpath I had a stitch but it didn't stop me because champions never give up. After passing a few corners Tamati was a few metres behind me their was approximately 100 meters to go I started to slow down a bit I was coming second at the time. finally the end I finished strong with sweat dripping from my forehead i finished 2nd.

This was a good experience for me running with my mates and having fun, Also This was my first time placing 2nd, It was cross country to remember.
